Webinar participants received critical information from commodity experts on what to expect in the coming weeks as the drought persists.
Collin Hulse, a risk consultant with FC Stone, spoke to attendees about how higher corn prices will most likely push wheat into feed uses, which could then drive up prices. Ultimately wheat will follow corn prices, and corn may continue to rise due to continuing drought conditions.
Craig Solberg, senior meteorologist with Freese-Notis Weather, updated participants on what to expect over the next month regarding weather. He commented that while the U.S. will receive precipitation this fall to help overcome the drought, it may be too little, too late as August will continue to be dryer than usual in critical crop producing areas in the U.S.
