Earlier this week, ABA’s Food Technical Regulatory Affairs Committee held its annual winter meeting in Atlanta, Ga. A record number of participants joined in the meeting which addressed food safety, nutrition and labeling policy, as well as emerging technology. Members had an interactive half-day session to formulate ABA’s strategy in responding to FDA’s proposal addressing current good manufacturing practices, hazard analysis and preventive control proposal that are all required elements of the Food Safety Modernization implementation. ABA was pleased to welcome David Acheson of Leavitt Partners and Julie Hill of The National Food Lab as part of a panel discussion on approaches for industry to prepare for FSMA requirements.
Members had another half-day session focused on nutrition policy including the newly proposed USDA Competitive Foods proposal and on expected FDA nutrition labeling revisions.
