Both the House and Senate passed the FY13 Continuing Resolution Bill late last week and yesterday was signed into law by the President. FDA received a three- percent increase over FY12 funding, approximately a $24 million increase. This is better than virtually any agriculture program and very rare among domestic discretionary programs. That said, there will be an offset of 2.515 percent rescission applied to the bill as part of the mandatory sequester cuts bringing the net to just over $9 million for FDA. While this is a modest increase, it is much more than most government agencies are anticipating.
