ABA invites you to join food safety expert and former FDA official Dr. David Acheson, Managing Director, Food and Import Safety Practice, Leavitt Partners, as he provides valuable insight on the issue of environmental pathogen testing and the role it will play as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration focuses its attention on preventive control implementation for food facilities.
Register today for the June 12, 2013 webinar.
This preventive approach is the hallmark of the 2011 Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and will be a key part of the development of a food safety plan required for all registered firms at some point in the next year as the Agency finalizes its preventive controls rule and implementation moves forward.
In the context of preventive control strategy, the FDA has also made it clear that it sees environmental microbiological controls as a critical part of an overall preventive control strategy. Although the proposed rule specifying preventive controls for human foods does not currently require an environmental testing program, this is one area for which FDA is seeking comment.
Understand the value that FDA sees in an environmental pathogen management program, and how this corresponds with the recent focus FDA has taken during inspections regarding how a plant controls microbial hazards in the environment.
Understand the value of having an environmental pathogen testing program in place now as FDA inspections continue to increase; insight on how to be prepared.
