The ABA HR and Labor Conference held a successful meeting last week, discussing myriad issues impacting the baking industry. Attendees focused their attention on the further implementation of Obamacare, discussing how the delay in the employer mandate affects a company's overall compliance strategy. Mark Holloway, with The Lockton Companies, gave an overview of new mandates while Laurie Graves, with The Bama Companies, provided a case study of how her company is combining PPACA's mandates with their overall healthcare and wellness strategies.
Attendees also discussed a number of other critical issues facing the industry, such as what to expect from a fully staffed National Labor Relations Board and Department of Labor, as well as the progression of a number of new regulations impacting HR and labor relations. Attendees also heard from key members of Congress serving on the House Education and Workforce Committee, including Representative Brett Guthrie (R-KY) and Representative Tim Walberg (R-MI), who is the chair of the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections.
The next ABA HR and Labor Conference will be held in January 2014 in Washington D.C.
