“The American Bakers Association applauds Representatives Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), Jim Costa (D-CA), Peter Welch (D-VT), and Steve Womack (R-AR) for their leadership by introducing the “Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) Reform Act,” said American Bakers Association (ABA) President and CEO Robb MacKie. “Restoring the balance between food and fuel crops is long overdue. The RFS is a fundamentally broken policy that disadvantages everyday Americans. There is growing evidence that the RFS is failing to achieve its stated goals and now is the time for bipartisan reform.”
This bipartisan legislation introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives will protect food makers and consumers from future price volatility by reforming the RFS. The legislation will reduce the impacts that the government-mandated RFS has on the economy by eliminating the corn-based ethanol requirements that force the use of billions of gallons of corn-based ethanol.
