The American Bakers Association (ABA) thanks the Senate Agriculture Committee for its strong bipartisan support for Chairman Pat Roberts’ uniform national GMO labeling standard. Passage is critical to protecting bakers from an unnecessary and unworkable patchwork of state labeling laws.
“ABA is grateful of the Senate Agriculture Committee’s leadership in advancing this bill toward Senate passage,” said ABA President & CEO Robb MacKie. “With Vermont’s labeling deadline quickly approaching, bakers are in dire need of a national uniform standard that provides customers with clear and consistent information that they have come to expect from the industry.”
“Bakers thank Chairman Roberts for his leadership on this important issue. We urge the full Senate to support swift passage of the bill to avert an unworkable state-by-state system that would add over $1,000 to American families’ grocery bills each year,” added MacKie.
