Meeting Highlights

“This year’s ELDC Public Policy Forum was off the charts,” said ELDC Co-Chair John Coyne, Pepperidge Farm Inc. “With more than 50 ABA members in attendance; an incredibly strong program line-up featuring congressional and business leaders; face-time with policymakers during lobbying visits on Capitol Hill and ample opportunities for industry networking, the Executive Leadership Development Committee is an ABA member resource in which every company should be taking advantage,” said Mr. Coyne.  

  • Senator John Thune (R-SD) served as the keynote speaker of the ELDC & Legal Committee Joint Dinner, sponsored by BCW Food Products; he spoke about impending health care reform legislation and his path to public service.
     
  • Rep. Tom Price (R-GA-6) spoke on H.R. 3400, “Empowering Patients First Act,” a GOP alternative to House Democratic Leadership reform. 
     
  • Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), Chairman, National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) spoke on the 2010 Election Cycle: Pro-Business Candidate Recruitment

The Executive Leadership Development Committee (ELDC) is dedicated to developing the future leadership of the wholesale baking industry and the American Bakers Association by bringing together executives in a forum which:
  • Informs participants on industry trends
  • Encourages active participation in public policy discussions, the political process and their impact on the wholesale baking industry
  • Educates participants on the role of the American Bakers Association and its activities
  • Develops personal leadership and management skills
