National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Thanks ABA for Steadfast & Principled Support
“ABA’s support is crucial to maintaining the majority,” said Executive Director Sally Vastola. She further applauded ABA for remaining true to it’s principles of supporting the best candidates and expressed dismay for organizations who play both sides.
While in Washington, D.C. for an ABA Legal Committee Meeting, American Bakers PAC Chairman Steve Avera, Flowers Foods, met with Sally Vastola, Executive Director of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) on Thursday, October 26, to discuss the upcoming mid-term elections. Accompanying Mr. Avera were ABA professional staff members Robb MacKie, President & CEO; Senior Vice President Government Relations & Public Affairs Lee Sanders and Kelly Knowles, Director of Government & Political Affairs.
“It was a great opportunity to meet with Ms. Vastola and her staff during the visit to the NRCC in Capitol Hill,” said Mr. Avera. “I was pleased to hear that the NRCC is fighting hard to retain its majority status in Congress and is focusing heavily on voter education and turnout between now and Election Day,” he concluded.
“Compared to business groups who support both candidates in contested races, ABA can be proud of its support for candidates who support the baking industry,” said Mr. MacKie. “It effectively doubles the $140,000 the baking industry has raised this cycle.”
