WASHINGTON, D.C. ─ The American Bakers Association is pleased to announce former U.S. Senate Leader and Budget Committee Chairman Don Nickles (R-OK) as its special guest during a Board of Directors dinner on June 13.
“We are extremely pleased to have Senator Nickles joining the ABA Board of Directors to discuss a number of pressing issues for bakers and business leaders,” said ABA President & CEO Robb MacKie. “I anticipate a very lively discussion as he shares with our directors his insight on the budget, economy, and general climate here in Washington.”
Senator Nickles was a key leader in the United States Senate for 24 years, serving as chairman of the influential Senate Budget Committee, and as a senior member of both the Senate Finance Committee and the Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Additionally, he held chairmanships with the Republican Senatorial Committee and Republican Policy Committee and served as the assistant republican leader. Today, Senator Nickles is chairman and CEO of the Nickles Group, a public affairs firm serving business leaders, national non-profits, and public policy causes.
“Senator Nickles’ very celebrated career and leadership on critical issues make him a perfect fit for our group. We look forward to his frank insight as to how our leaders can navigate the current environment of crushing over-regulation,” continued MacKie. “Throughout his career, bakers had no better friend than Senator Nickles.”
The ABA Board of Directors is comprised of top leaders from across the baking industry who volunteer their time to develop consensus policies that improve the government environment and overall health of the baking industry. Robin Alton, president and CEO of Pan-o-Gold Baking, is serving as the ABA Board’s chairman through March 2014.
