Washington, D.C. – American Bakers Association (ABA) President and CEO Robb MacKie released the following statement on the USDA’s finalized rule on the National Bioengineered (BE) Food Disclosure Standard:
“The baking industry has supported a federal standard for bioengineered food disclosure which is necessary for interstate commerce,” said Robb MacKie, ABA President and CEO.
“The requirements will provide clear and concise messaging that consumers seek and will streamline changes efficiently with cost savings for our industry,” added MacKie.
The American Bakers Association is currently reviewing the new rule and will provide guidance to members at a later date. More information about the final rule can be found on the USDA’s website.
