Representatives from ABA Members two largest sales channels – retail and foodservice – will be joining the BE Summit @ FTRAC to provide an early read on how large and small retailers as well as restaurant chains will be reacting in the market. There will be industry relations staff from the Food Marketing Institute, the National Grocers Association, and the National Restaurant Association on hand to provide guidance as well as hear the industry’s perspectives.
With the upcoming implementation of National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard on January 1, 2020, ABA members are seeking clarification on the new BE labeling requirements as well as insights on how to strategically position their products in the marketplace.
While we don’t have all the answers, one thing is clear: there needs to be significant and frequent dialogue among the entire supply chain from ingredient supplier, packaging supplier, baker, and customers. Each company will have important decisions to make by the end of 2019.
ABA is bringing together supply chain partners for a candid and frank discussion to avoid confusion with the new requirements. We also will hearfrom one of the authors of the BE Rule, Trevor Findley of the USDA.
QA, Procurement, and Marketing executives are encouraged to attend this vital industry gathering.
Members can submit 10BE Labeling Questions ahead of time.
Participants are encouraged to attend in-person to receive the benefits of face to face discussions. However, ABA understands the importance of this particular issue and is making the BE Summit available as a live webinar.
